Usually people post on here about patients they’ve treated but today i’m posting about me. I had hives starting on July 4th and was diagnosed with mono a week later. All my research has shown that hives coming from mono should only last a few weeks. It’s been 7 weeks and i’m still experiencing hives along with extreme pain when I get them. It’s not a food allergy. If anyone has any idea what could be causing my outbreaks please let me know. Over and over again my doctor has told me to wait it out and I’m tired of being ignoring when I need to be treated.
Have you recently made any changes to your laundry detergent? Or to anything around your home for that matter? You could be having an allergic rxn to it. Other than that- first thing that comes to my head after that would be a series of insect bites, or something autoimmune.
Okay :) No worries there! Usually rashes are indicative of something viral. Where did you go?
https://academic.oup.com/jtm/article/15/4/252/1901236 I found this article- table 3 might be of use as an idea of what it could be. Did you get any vaccinations or have any medication changes before you left?
When I looked a little closer- it kind of looks like cercarial dermatitis (or a swimmers rash), a small parasitic infection, can go away on its own; colloidal oatmeal baths, hydrocortisone may help if it itches. I hope this helps and that you get better soon. If it doesn't clear soon; I'd recommend you see you family doctor (if you have one), or go to your nearest clinic. Let them know you've been travelling. :)
Which country have you been to and which country are you from? Could be crucial for diagnosis!
