Scarlet Fever

This picture shows strawberry tongue which is seen in scarlet fever in young children.Scarlet fever is caused by untreated streptococcus pyogenes infection mainly pharyngitis. Another key feature for scarlet fever is desquamating rash. Symptoms are fever, chills, delrium, sore throat, and rash. Diagnosis is by clinical features and throat culture may show strept.pyogenes. Treatment is oral penicillin for all cases.
