On-pump (left) vs. off-pump (right) coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery

"They say that practice makes perfect. Theory is, the more you think like a surgeon, the more you become one."It is not a simple procedure like cut, suture and close. You shall not be arrogant once you achieve what you have got but you need to be arrogant enough to open someone's chest and cut through the beating heart.On-pump (left) vs. off-pump (right) coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. The difference between these two procedures is the heart-lung (cardiopulmonary) machine. On-pump procedure surely uses hear-lung machine. Perioperatively, the heart goes into an arrest state and the machine keeps the blood circulating through the body.On the other hand, off-pump CABG is done on beating heart using suction as fixation.
