During the surgery, cuts are made in the nose mainly from the insides, where they become invisible; and sometimes on the skin separating the nostrils. Bones and cartilages forming the framework of the nose are opened up. Changes to this structure is made, either by adding up on them, or by removing some of their parts. The bones and cartilages are reshaped to form a good new support structure. Skin over the nose are finally draped over this new structure. A splint is applied from outside to protect the nose and allow it to heal for the next week.
