Hello Doctors , I’m a little confused about a topic so if any one can help me In our CVS we have receptors for blood pressure that are called Baroreceptors and they are two groups 1) Arterial baroreceptors responsible for Marey’s reflex 2)Atrial baroreceptors responsible for Bainbridge reflex. My question is that “Dose Marey’s reflex sense both the elevation and depression of Blood pressure or they are only sensitive to elevation of blood pressure. And the same question is about Bainbridge reflex ?

Bainbridge reflex is via stretch receptors (detect increased blood volume) and marey’s reflex is via baroreceptors(detect increased bp).

I think elevation in pressure makes the receptors send impulses so as to reduce increased pressure. And decreased pressure leads to little impulse production from receptors, so decreases vagal activity which maintains normal BP.

Yeah correct but which receptor works in high blood pressure and which in low blood pressure?

Hope you understood :)

That was really helpful 🌹

Well for the decreased blood pressure we don't need any receptors, this problem is usually controlled by hormonal activity like RAAS. And as far as the receptors that detect high bp, they are found on heart surface like stretch receptors! Hope you got it.
