Coccygeal tumor!
Yes, a tumor removed from the coccyx, or tailbone! This type of tumor is known as a chordoma, and it's a rare, slow-growing malignant type of cancer that occurs in the bones of the skull base and spine (especially sacrum and coccyx). It is part of a group of malignant bone and soft tissue tumors called sarcomas.These account for the most common cervical spine and sacrum tumors. Although slow-growing, chordomas can be difficult to treat because of their location near vital structures such as the spinal cord and brain.Seen on the MRI above, the tumor is located just posterior to the rectum and presses the coccyx due to its size. Tumors in the tailbone area can cause a noticeable mass, numbness in the groin area, bowel and bladder problems, or numbness, tingling, and weakness in the legs.In most cases, treatment for the tumors involves a combination of surgery and radiation therapy.
