NSAIDs lead to destruction of the bone marrow which is the main site for the synthesis of all RBCs, WBCs & platelets.

1) If you have read antiplatelets chapter, you'll know, nsaids (esp aspirin) is used as antiplatelet drugs for preventing MI. (To prevent formation of clots) But this also increases a chance of GI bleeding. Y? Cuz, NSAIDS work by inhibiting COX. The enzyme involved in synthesis of prostaglandins. PGs are protective for gastic mucosa. So NSAIDS may cause ulcers and bleeding. Due to antiplatelet effect and low gastric mucosal integrity, there can be occult loss of blood. This can cause anemia. Blood loss anemia infact. It will be normocytic normochromic.
