A five year old boy has been left scarred for life after a dog tore off a chunk of his cheek in a ferocious attack! He needed plastic surgery and 29 stitches to repair the gaping wound caused by a bull mastiff at his granmothers house. Jordan was set upon as he was on his way to bed while staying the night at his grandma's home. She explained: âIt all happened in a flash. The dog was lying in the hallway and just jumped up at him. It bit into Jordanâs face and his cheek was hanging down. It was horrific. My son Adam ran into the hallway and beat the dog away and shut him in a bedroom while I phoned 999. Jordan screamed and was bleeding very badly but he was a very brave boy.

Being the UK Rabies is nearly totally eradicated in domestic animals, and is only found in bats in the wild. So unless the dog is from another country, the risk of rabies is extremely low.
Yeah I don’t think Rabies releases a neurotoxin, its the actual virus itself infecting the central nervous system.
The dog could have had rabies. They don’t know if a rabid animal could have bitten the dog earlier without their knowledge, plus, the rabies virus can be dormant in the blood for years without any symptoms.
