An acute subdural hematoma in a 85-year-old male patient who suffered a traumatic brain injury!

Subdural hematoma results in blood gathering between the inner layer of the dura mater and the arachnoid mater. Usually resulting from tears in bridging veins which cross the subdural space. As blood slowly builds up, it causes an increase in intracranial pressure which may cause compression and damage to the brain tissue. This patient presented to the emergency room with severe headache, vomiting and left hemiparesis (due to right sided hematoma) and rapidly deteriorated from a 13 Glasgow coma scale down to 6. The team rapidly proceeded to an emergency craniotomy and evacuation of the hematoma. Credit @rpaglioli
