Hard to believe, this is a huge cyst that developed on the right kidney, filling the retroperitoneal space! The cyst measured 40cm x 40 cm and contained 10 liters of pus mixed with serous fluid. Due to its huge size, the patient experienced suprapubic pain and presented with massive abdominal distension. The diagnosis of giant renal cyst was made by ultrasound and confirmed by CT scan. Giant renal cysts are not common, they are acquired benign lesions of the kidney but are very frequently large enough to be palpable on routine clinical examination or even by the patient himself. The etiology is unclear, it is believed that they originate from the diverticulum of the distal convoluted tubule. The condition can be managed by several ways, including continuous percutaneous catheter drainage with negative pressure, aspiration with sclerotherapy, or complete surgical excision for the very large ones.
OMG holy cow ๐ฎ ๐ that's just massive thank you for sharing
