These type of tumors are commonly known as dermatofibrosarcomas and are described as benign or somewhat low-grade malignant soft-tissue growths or masses presenting with long standing swelling in the right thigh with acute leg pain due to popliteal vein compression and thrombosis. Definite diagnosis must be made by biopsy with ultrasound guidance. In current practice, it can be more reliably distinguished histologically from similar lesions, such as desmoid tumors, malignant fibrous histiocytoma, malignant schwannoma, and high-grade osteosarcoma. As with all soft-tissue and bone sarcomas, the mainstay of treatment for fibrosarcoma has been complete excision with an adequate margin.
