This is from a 33-year-old male that had a heart transplant. His wife @amanda_morgan0512 called the ambulance when he suddenly started showing signs of heart attack that morning. When paramedics came his heart rate was 247 bests per minute so they used a defibrillator to provide an electrical shock and reset his heart rhythm back to its normal while he was awake the entire time. Back in 2015, he was diagnosed with CHF (congestive heart failure) and WPW (Wolf Parkinson White) syndrome and his ejection fraction was 15%. He underwent a cardiac ablation and was put a pacemaker. In WPW syndrome, an accessory conduction pathway from the atria to ventricles is causing a premature ventricular excitation and leads to paroxysmal tachycardia. After a year, his condition worsened, he started swelling and gradually showed signs of organ failure. A LVAD (left ventricle assist device) was placed until he could get a heart transplant. Not long after, while being on the wait list, his right heart started failing. Doctors though he would love to see august, things were running out of time. His BMI needed to drop before the transplant, this was easily accomplished as his body was mostly fluids accumulating and causing edema due to the failing heart. On July 27th this year, they got the call that a donor was found. The new heart was successfully transplanted that night. Photo by @amanda_morgan0512
