This umbilical cord looks like he's in shock from getting out of the womb. In real life, the umbilical cord looks like a face giving the fact that if contains 2 arteries and a single vein. The umbilical cord connects the baby in the womb to his mother. It runs from the baby's abdomen (the belly button) to the placenta in the womb and normally contains two umbilical arteries (the upper ones in the figure) and one umbilical vein (bottom one), which, although called a vein, it supplies the fetus with oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood from the placenta while the deoxygenated, nutrient-depleted blood are pumped by the fetal heart through the umbilical arteries back to the placenta. So the umbilical vein which takes the shape of a mouth is basically feeding the fetus. Quite a smart coincidence huh!
