The following photo shows a buccal fat pad removal or bichectomy, a procedure consisting in removing the fat pad between the masseter muscle and the buccinator muscle through an internal incision. This is one of several encapsulated deep fat masses in the cheek, located on either side of the face between the buccinator muscle and several more superficial muscles. Surgery makes the cheek look slimmer and gives a better protection of the cheek bones, without affecting any functional or aesthetic aspect of the face. This is a 45 year old patient that wanted to enhance her face features, the procedure was done under local anesthesia and sedation and took 15 minutes to complete.Photo by @drjaviersoto
