Can someone please explain Trendelenburg sign and test? I keep getting confused which hip is the good or bad one! Does the gluteas medius muscle on one side stabilise the opposite side or same side of the pelvis?

The gluteus medius of one side supports the other side. If their is a lesion in the superior gluteal nerve of the left side and the muscle is paralyzed, the gluteus medius on the right will still support it. Positive trendelenburg sign will be seen on the unaffected side(right side) as the left hip can't support the right hip during walking,so the right hip will sag down. This one was indeed difficult for me too 🀧

And can also be seen in stance phase

In single leg stance, if there is opposite side pelvic drop estimate the stance leg is weak which can be trendlenberg
