Enucleation - Eye Removal Surgery

Enucleation - Eye Removal Surgery

This video presents Minimal Manipulation Myoconjunctival Enucleation for Retinoblastoma in 4 year old child. Enucleation is still the treatment of choice for high-risk group E retinoblastoma. The technique of enucleation is important - specifically minimal manipulation and harvesting a long optic nerve stump. While the surgery is life-saving, providing optimal static and dynamic cosmesis is important to socially rehabilitate the child. Use of myoconjunctival technique with a primary implant helps optimize cosmesis.

Now this is an awesome video! Thanks for sharing. Do you have the longer version showing the process of holding the EOMs so they won’t retract back after being cut from the globe?

Did they re-attach the muscles of the eye to the remaining conjunctiva?
