Keratoprosthesis
Keratoprosthesis is made of a transparent material prosthesis with which it is replaced by surgical intervention, the natural cornea of a patient.This therapeutic procedure is used to improve the vision of those who need a cornea transplant, but it is not possible to do, for any complications or previous attempts failed.It is indicated for use in corneal diseases in which this is opacified and not allow the passage of light, but only in cases where the visual acuity is very low and transplantation human cornea is not possible or has tried to do it with repeated failure.Diseases in which more commonly are used thermal or chemical eye burns, eye trachoma, elSíndrome Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Lyell, Sjögren's syndrome.
