Esophagectomy and Partial Gastrectomy

Esophagectomy and partial gastrectomy for esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). Typically arises in the lower 1/3 of the esophagus in a setting of Barrett esophagus (intestinal metaplasia of the esophageal squamous mucosa). Risk factors: smoking, alcohol, drinking extremely hot liquids often, obesity, and GERD.
