The Female Perineum, hope the gender was obvious! Find us on Instagram @rev.med The Perineum is between the thighs and below the pelvic diaphragm. When you have the legs abducted (as in diagram) the perineum forms a diamond shape that can be divided into two triangles. Draw a line connecting the ischial tuberosities, and you'll get the Urogenital Triangle & the Anal Triangle. Urogenital Triangle: Makes up the anterior portion of the perineum. Home to the Vagina, Urethra & Clitoris. Urogenital triangle also has Perineal Fascia which consists of the superficial & deep layers. The superficial perineal fascia has a fatty layer & deep membranous layer (Colles Fascia). The fatty layer is the thick area around the labia majora and mons pubis. For men the fatty layer is pretty much absent in the penis and scrotum. Anal Triangle: Is made up of the Anus & Ischioanal fossae, you can see them as wedge shaped spaces between the skin around the anal canal and pelvic diaphragm. They contain loose connective tissue & fat which is movable to allow for expansion when you go poo poo. Hey there! I know you know more than you like to think I know you know.
