Hey I am wondering why lateral head of gastrocnemius (m. Gastrocnemius caput laterale) is weaker than medial head (caput mediale), can anyone explain ? And additional, does anybody know what is the exact reason for rapture of achilles tendo ?

If the foot becomes too much dorsiflexed then Achilles tendon might be ruptured. I am not sure for the first one.

That's the answer I found. It usually occurs in the sprinters at the beginning of the race due to sudden strain on the tendon. In case of normal people there can be some dystrophy but I'm not sure. (By the way why can't I reply to you directly??)

Thanks , but that is kind of a obvious reason. In many cases patients don't do anything extreme like this but it also comes to rupture.(they for example normally walk , like anytime before, and it comes to rupture)...

For your first question it's probably due to the fact that the medial head got greater attachment proximally and longer insertion distally than the lateral head. Hope this will help (nice question though).

Thank you very much Keito for your answer and time... For the first question I assume that there are some crucial forces that are differently arranged, maybe medial head is more loaded, perhaps that could be measured with EMG or different methods.
