Lesions of the Visual Pathways, with anatomical relationships! Overall the Visual Pathway consist of: *Retina *Optic nerve *Optic chiasm (and there, the nasal visual field fibers cross over to the opposite side) *Optic tract *Lateral geniculate nucleus *Optic radiation *Primary and secondary visual cortices Visual Pathway Lesions! A. Optic Nerve lesion, information cannot even be brought down from that eye, we have complete blindness of the left eye called Left Anopia. B. Optic Chiasm lesion, could be due to a pituitary tumor, Temporal nerves cross over so no information and as a result, blindness from temporal fields called Bitemporal Hemianopia. C. Left Homonymous Hemianopia - a lesion occurs here after optic chiasm, we get a loss of vision from right nasal field and left temporal field. D. Right Homonymous Superior Quadrantanopia - if there is a lesion of just one nerve in the optic tract. So superior quadrant vision of the right nasal field and the right temporal field is lost.
