Most would think if our patients die despite our best efforts there's nothing left for us to do. This isn't the case for the paramedics on the ambulance nor for the team in the hospital. The very worst part of the call is yet to come and it's this part that haunts us. The doctor in this image is thinking and preparing for what she needs to do next when she gets a call for a person hanging between life and death. Her task is simple, to ensure the patient lived in a situation that was on a knife edge by using higher levels of skills, critical thinking and split-second decision making. Yet, complexity and complications are what making emergency situations the total opposite from being simple. Photo-art credit @dansunphotoart
The highest high is being able to tell the family their family member is going to live the lowest low is having to tell them that their family member succumbed to their injuries......sometimes the emotional part ....highs and lows.....occurs outside the OR
In today's world even though the medical field is becoming more business but there are and always will be things which remind us of our ground reality..... Thanks for posting this picture....
