Compartment Syndrome and Fasciotomy Acute Compartment Syndrome occurs when pressure rises inside confined space in the body, resulting in a critical reduction of blood flow to the tissues contained within the space. Without urgent decompression, tissue ischemia and necrosis and functional impairment will occur. . Fasciotomy is the treatment indicated in this case. The leg contains 4 compartments that are usually accessed by two incisions.
