This is an orbital cavernous hemangioma surgical removal! This is a benign, noninfiltrative, slowly progressive vascular neoplasm that grows within the orbit and surrounded by a well-delineated fibrous capsule. Commonly found within the muscle cone, lateral to the optic nerve, and pushes the eye forward causing a bulging (proptosis) along with retinopathy, vascular damage and optic neuropathy. Treatment is usually reserved for symptomatic patients (diplopia or visual disturbance) and includes surgical excision, as seen above.
Interesting to see one so close to the eye. . I had a spinal cavernoma removed from my spinal cord C3 C4 level a month ago.
