Signs and symptoms may include: A thick, gray membrane covering the throat and tonsils. A sore throat and hoarseness. Swollen glands (enlarged lymph nodes) in the neck. Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing. Nasal discharge. Fever and chills. Tiredness.
