Total maxillectomy (removal of the upper jaw) with eye socket or orbital exenteration!! Maxillectomy is usually performed in connection with malignant tumors of the jaw, nose, paranasal sinuses and mouth, with spreading to the hard palate. Resection includes the floor and medial wall of the orbit and the ethmoid sinuses, and possibly extended to include orbital exenteration (en bloc) and sphenoidectomy, and resection of the pterygoid plates. Unfortunately the eyeball had to come along for the ride due to orbital invasion of cancerous cells.
