Curettage vs Root planning

In curettage, removal/debridement of necrotic tissue takes place and it requires more force. It is done with curettes. In root planning, Smoothening of root surface takes place by removal of calculus and pieces of altered cementum. It requires less force and is done by curettes and scalers.
