A Tutorial of Dural Folds and the Dural Venous Sinuses

In this video, the dura mater of the brain, its layers and dural folding are discussed comprehensively on cadaveric brain. Important dural folding i.e., falx cerebri, falx cerebelli, tentorium cerebelli, and diaphragma sellae are shown on the cadaveric brain for better visualization of the dural folds. The formation of dural venous sinuses as well as their locations are elucidated. Clinical relevance is described in terms of hemorrhage at any layer outside the brain. 0:22 Overview of meninges 1:50 Layers of dura mater 2:36 Dural venous sinuses 3:05 Dural folds 3:47 Clinical correlation 4:32 Falx cerebri 6:06 Straight sinus 6:24 Superior sagittal sinus 7:18 Transverse sinus 7:30 Confluence of sinuses and occipital sinus 7:59 Inferior sagittal sinus 8:20 Tentorium cerebelli 10:52 Superior petrosal sinus and transverse snus 11:37 Diaphragma sellae 12:12 Cavernous sinus 12:36 Falx cerebri 13:35 Functions
