Porphyria

porphyria or ‘the vampire disease’ is an inborn error of metabolism characterized clinically by skin photosensitivity, hypertrichosis, and reddish brown staining of the primary teeth(as shown above). This disease has often been associated with so-called ‘living vampires’. because it has such distinctive symptoms. The disease typically affects the nervous system and skin. The cause is from a lack of heme which is mainly found in red blood cells.
