Necrotizing ulcerative periodontitis
Necrotizing ulcerative periodontitis (NUP), necrotizing periodontitis (NP) or acute necrotizing ulcerative periodontitis (ANUP) occurs when the infection leads to attachment loss. This destroys the ligaments which anchor teeth in their sockets.
