Mean blood pressure (MBP)

Mean blood pressure (MBP)

Given that in normal person at rest: Diastolic period= 2/3 of cardiac cycle period Systolic period=1/3 of cardiac cycle period Prove that: Mean blood pressure (MBP)= Diastolic Blood pressure (DPB) + 1/3 Pluse pressure (PB) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since that in normal person at rest: Diastolic period= 2/3 of cardiac cycle period Systolic period=1/3 of cardiac cycle period We can say that: MBP=(2 DBP + SBP) ÷ 3 = 2/3 DBP + 1/3 SBP By Adding and substracting 1/3 DBP: MBP= DBP + 1/3  SBP - 1/3 DBP = DBP + 1/3 (SBP - DBP) Since PB= SBP - DBP Then MBP= DBP + 1/3 PB
