I mean to say about targeting the molecule by using immuno binding techniques
No we do not use this kind of method. Maldi-Tof is mass spectrometry method
U should use flow cytometry method. I hope u know very well about this technique
I work in the microbiology- bacteriology lab. At first we use blood agar to make bacterias grow and then we choose representative sample of the suspected species of bacterias and this machine can simply clearly and correctly identify the bacteria within few minutes I think that flow cytometry method is useless. Biochemistry labs use this kind of method but if there are bacterias for example in the urine or liquor they still have to send this sample to bacteriology lab.
Let me to explain u. See my discussion topic use of flow cytometry. One more thing there are 22 test which are which should be done to identify a bacterial species. And it takes 45 hours in ideal condition. But by help of molecular techniques we can identify it in 30 hours and it as a cobfirmetry test
There are lot of methods how to identify bacterial species but Iam trying to tell you about the fastest way of identification. Of course you can use flow cytometry to detect them but you can't tell if it is streptococcus pneumoniae, neisseria meningitidis or gonorrhoea but with help of MALDI you simply can, all you need is up to 10 minutes of your time when you have fully grown bacteria
