Cholesterol is directly related to cardiovascular diseases. Cholesterol is insoluble lipid that deposits in arteries narrowing their lumen. As long as cholesterol level is normal, it is harmless. High cholesterol level causes hypercholesterolemia increasing risk for atherosclerosis, Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), stroke, Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) and hypertension.
