To apply plaster, dressings and bandage Plasters are available in different shapes and sizes. You may need to cut them in required shape. Some plasters are waterproof while others need safety from water. Before you start applying; • Wash your hands • Inform the person what you are going to do Now; • Clean the wound with clean water and pat dry • In case of bleeding, hold the bleeding part above the level of heart • Unwrap a plaster and cut it into required shape. Take a bigger piece so you can cover the wound completely. • Hold the plaster or bandage from the edges and don’t touch the part which is going to touch the wound. • Wrap it firmly around the wound. It should not be very loose or tight. • Replace plaster or bandage every time it soaks with blood or water.
