Diastematomyelia is a disease of spinal cord which belongs to a class of diseases called spinal dysraphism. Spinal dysraphism is refers to any tissue abnormality thar disrupt normal function and structure of spine or spinal cord. Diastematomyelia is also known as split spinal cord. It is characterized by presence of a sagittal cleft that divides the spinal cord into two parts.
