Fat is notorious for weight gaining effect. However, it is important to recognize the two types of fats; good and bad. Bad fats do not help the body but good fats are essential macronutrients with benefits for body. Fat is energy generating reserve of body. Human body is incapable to produce essential fatty acids. Fats prove as vital source for essential fatty acids required for several metabolic demands of body. Moreover, fat is an essential component of cell wall. It also absorbs fat-soluble vitamins i.e. vitamin A, D, E and K. Fats in body work as insulator to protect the body against cold temperature.
