Raccoon eyes is a feature often seen in trauma patients. The condition arises secondary to rupture of small vessels beneath the skin. This is also known as 'periorbital eccyhmosis'. Raccoon eyes are typically caused by trauma to face or head. Fracture of base of the skull is the major cause of raccoon eyes.
