Hypertension is a common finding in pregnant women. Hypertension can occur for the first time during the pregnancy or it may be present before the pregnancy. Regardless, it is important to regulate the blood pressure in order to improve both maternal and fetal outcome. The drug of choice for hypertension in pregnancy is labetalol. Other options are methyldopa and nifedipine. Reference: Obstetrics by Ten Teachers Image via: https://www.cdc.gov/bloodpressure/pregnancy.htm
