Intussusception is an emergency situation characterized by telescoping of portion of gut into one another. Consequently, there is bowel obstruction and possible ischemia of the gut. The patient may present with currant jelly stool, nausea and vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and lump in a gut. Air enema is usually done which relieves up to 90% of the pediatric cases. If there is bowel tear or in adult patients, surgery is imperative.
