Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease. It is a chronic disease and definitive cure for the disease has not yet developed. Currently, the management plan aims to provide symptomatic relief in addition to decrease frequency of flares. Following medications are mainly administered for management of Crohn's disease: - steroids e.g.., prednisolone - dietary changes e.g., shifting to liquid diet - immunosuppressant such as methotrexate, mercaptopurine, or azathiprine - biological medications such as adalimumab, infliximab, ustekinumab, or vedolizumab Surgical management involves resection of diseases portion of gut followed by anastomosis between healthy ends of the gut.
