Anorexia Nervosa is an Eating Disorder caused by the fear of gaining weight and becoming fat. Affected individuals intentionally starve themselves to lose weight. This is a serious condition and the most common fatal psychiatric disorder after opioid abuse. The BMI of such individuals is less than 18.5. (Ideal BMI is 18.5-24.5). Overtime, they develop; o Menstrual periods cease o Brittle hair/nails o Dizziness or fainting from dehyration o Cold intolerance o Heartburn and reflux (in those who vomit) o Muscle weakness and wasting o Stress fractures from compulsive exercise as well as bone loss resulting in osteopenia or osteoporosis (thinning of the bones) o Severe constipation, bloating and fullness after meals o Depression, irritability, anxiety, poor concentration and fatigue
