Testicular torsion refers to the twisting of spermatic cord which contains blood vessels that supply the scrotum. Consequently, blood supply to the testes is blocked resulting in ischemia. It is a surgical emergency. The most common age of testicular torsion is 12 to 18 years. It can also occur before birth. The patient usually presents with intense pain in the scrotum, swelling of the scrotum, frequent urination, fever, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. If untreated, the testes can be damaged irreversibly resulting in inability to father children. I had this Condition and mine had to be removed
That made me wince even though I worked as a Surgical Tech for a number of years. My condolences.
