Signs and Symptoms of Costochondritis and Teitz Syndrome • Sharp aching chest pain which is exaggerated by lying down, hugging, wearing a seatbelt, coughing, deep breathing, sneezing and physical exertion • Tenderness • Trouble breathing • Discomfort The difference between costochondritis and Teitz syndrome is that the latter causes swelling over inflamed area of ribs and cartilages. There is redness, warmth and tenderness.
