Contagion and Isolation Precautions for Patients with Viral Conjunctivitis • Maintain hand hygiene. Wash hands with warm water and soap. You can also use an alcohol-based hand sanitize. Wash your hands especially after contacting anything used by an affected person e.g. bed linen, towels, eye-drop bottle, glasses, etc. • Do not touch your eyes with unwashed hands. • Avoid sharing your personal items with an infected individual. • Discard old makeup brushes which you used during infection and replace them with new ones. • Discard contact lenses you wore during infection. Dispose the contact lens solution as well. • Clean eyeglasses you wore during infection properly. • Patients of viral conjunctivitis must isolate themselves for 2 weeks. • Patients must not come in contact with immunocompromised individuals, infants and elderly.
