Thyroid is a butterfly-shaped endocrine gland located anteriorly in the neck below the Adam’s apple. It consists of 2 lobes connected by an isthmus. This red-colored gland does not palpate in normal state. Thyroid releases triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4).
