Mantoux Test

Mantoux Test

Mantoux test is a diagnostic test for latent tuberculosis. The procedure involves injecting 5 U of tuberculin on the volar surface of arm. The appearance of induration within 48-72 hours may indicate positive infection with mycobacterium tuberculosis. Since tuberculosis develops slowly, the mantoux test is repeated after few weeks to definitively rule out the presence of infection.
