Are toothbrushes contaminated?

Common sense says toothbrushes are contaminated. Bacteria may transmit to the brush from your hands, the storage container, and the environment of washroom. If you have insects roaming freely in washroom then the toothbrushes are veyr likely to be contaminated. They may also be contaminated with the bacteria from your oral cavity especially if you had an active infection or disease affecting your mouth in any way.
