Treatment for Snake Bite 1. Administer 4-6 vials of IV (8-12 vials of IV for life-threatening envenomations) 2. If initial control is established i.e. swelling is arrested, fibrinogen and prothrombin time and platelets demonstrate clear improvement, start maintenance infusions of 2 vials every 6 hours x 3 doses. Keep assessing recurrent local tissue injury. 3. If initial control is not established, repeat step 1. 4. After completing maintenance infusion, reassess swelling, fibrinogen, prothrombin time and platelets. If all are stable then recommend out-patient follow-up within 3 days of antivenom assess recurrent hypofibrinogenemia, increased prothrombin time and thrombocytopenia. 5. If they are unstable then administer 4-6 vials of IV.
