Out of millions of fungi species, only 300 of them cause skin infections. Skin fungal infections too much for immune system to counter. Fungi invade a patch of skin and cultivate producing discomfort, pain and itch. The types of skin fungal infections are - Tinea corporis i.e. Ringworm of body - Tinea pedis i.e. Athlete’s food - Tinea cruris i.e. Jock’s itch - Tinea capitis i.e. Infection of scalp - Tinea versicolor - Cutaneous candidiasis - Tinea unguium i.e. Onychomycosis The symptoms of skin fungal infections are - Persistent itching - Change in color, usually red - Peeling of skin - Cracking of skin - Burning sensation - Soreness The causes of skin fungal infections are - Warm and wet environment - Not maintaining hygiene - Wearing fabric that does not allow skin to breathe - Infected animals
