Subcutaneous phycomycosis, a uncommon fungal infection of the human skin, is discussed and a representative case is described. Subcutaneous phycomycosis is a chronic, progressive fungal infection of the deeper layers of the human skin that causes localized, mobile, firm and non-tender swellings. The causative organism is the Basidiobolus haptosporus, a fungus commonly found in rotting vegetation in the soil.
